Hydrodynamics in the tidal flat in semi-enclosed Xiangshan Bay

چکیده

Tidal flats provide a foundation for biological diversity and marine economy. Xiangshan Bay is semi-enclosed bay that shelters large areas of tidal flats, known its aquaculture. In this study, field trips were conducted in late autumn to measure the water level, current, temperature, flat turbidity data during Typhoon Lingling. The well calibrated used investigate hydrodynamics, flat. results showed spring-neap cycles at sea surface level captured both stations. maximum range was 5.5 m 1.5 spring neap tides, respectively. occasionally exposed air (30 min). current velocity (<0.2 m/s) waves (<0.15 m) stations weak, direction flow controlled by geomorphology, even Water more turbid station S2 (<0.8 kg/m 3 ) than S1 ). temperature affected cycles, with larger variations occurring tides tides. value seawater greater intrinsic mode functions (IMFs) similar, as they are subject sea-air-tidal interactions. IMFs middle bottom layers less correlated. Temperature fluctuations mainly Small-scale features (>0.5 Hz) important temperatures, particularly typhoons. These findings future studies on eco-hydrology coastal engineering flats.

Temporal and spatial distribution pattern of Bullacta exarata in a tidal flat at south shore of Hangzhou Bay, China

The distribution pattern of Bullacta exarata was studied in different seasons of 2004 at south shore of Hangzhou Bay, China. We found that the distribution pattern of B. exarata was aggregated in each season by Taylor's power regression and Iwao's plot regresses methods (P < 0.001). Based on two-way ANOVA analysis, the results indicated that the densities were significantly affected by the fact...

Hurricane-induced storm surges, currents and destratification in a semi-enclosed bay

[1] Semi-enclosed bays and estuaries are usually protected from hurricane-generated storm surges. When a hurricane travels on the land side, however, it may induce high storm surges, strong currents and destratification in the water column. Real-time observations and numerical model prediction both show a slab-like sloshing in Chesapeake Bay when it was hit by Hurricane Isabel in September 2003...

Tidal Power in the Klabat Bay, Indonesia

The design of complex technological systemsrequired an early outlook of institutional issues. Thepaper suggests a design methodology to combineinstitutional design and engineering design. Thedesign methodology is applied to a case study of tidalpower development in the Klabat bay, Indonesia. Inthe case study it is shown that there are interactionsbetween institutiona...
